Library Services for the eLearning Environment

Policy Statement

Memorial Library will provide services for eligible faculty and students in College-level eLearning courses who need library support for teaching and research. Qualified students and faculty must meet BOTH of the following criteria:

Currently, these services include only document delivery from Memorial Library's print journal collection. This new service requires authorization and adheres to a 72-hour turn-around time.

Library-related eLearning services will expand over time in an effort to make the same on-campus resources and services available to our eLearning community.

Resources for Research

Document Delivery

Document Delivery differs from Interlibrary Loan in that it is an electronic delivery of articles that exist in Memorial Library's Print Journal Collection. Articles are scanned and delivered to you via your Illiad account, generally within 72 hours. This service caters to patrons outside a 30 mile radius, who would have difficulty travelling to campus. Book loans from the Memorial Library Collection are not currently part of this service. For book loans, see Book Options section below. To submit a request, please register with Illiad. Identify yourself as an eLearner in the status drop down field.

Interlibrary Loan

The Interlibrary Loan Department (ILL) borrows journal articles from other libraries for the eLearning community that are not in Memorial Library's Collection. Book loans, which are normally part of ILL services, are not currently available for eLearners at this time. For book loans, see the Book Options section below.

Book Options

Books from the Memorial Library Collection or Interlibrary loan are not currently available to our eLeaning community. eLearners can, however, obtain books via their local libraries (public or academic). Individual libraries each have their own service policies. Please call ahead to find out a library's visitor privileges.

SUNY Open Access

As a SUNY Cortland faculty member, staff or student, you are permitted to borrow materials from other SUNY or CUNY libraries under the SUNY Open Access policy. You must present a valid SUNY Cortland ID card to apply for a library card at another institution. Access to services and collections may vary by college. Fines and/or delinquencies are reported back to SUNY Cortland where you may be placed on the stop list until your account with the lending library is returned to good standing.
