Access to databases
Access and use of Memorial Library's Databases is restricted by license agreements to purposes of research, teaching, and private study by current SUNY Cortland students, faculty or staff members. To access services that have licensing agreements restricting their use to SUNY Cortland users, you must verify that you are a SUNY Cortland student, faculty or staff member.
Distance education students should contact the Library director, Gail Wood, woodg@cortland.edu for information on obtaining a C number
Proxy Server
Eligible users may access library databases from off-campus via the Library's proxy server by authenticating (logging in) with their C number.
Most of the library database licensing restrictions are administered automatically by the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using to access the Internet. If you are accessing the Internet from off campus, your computer's IP address is likely to be assigned to you by your ISP and is not a recognizable as a SUNY Cortland computer address. Going through the Libraries' proxy server allows your computer to provide a valid SUNY Cortland IP address when accessing licensed databases.
If you are an eligible user and are having trouble accessing the databases, please try the help on the database help page before reporting access problems.
